Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the US. Known for her work in TV and film from the mid-80s onwards, she has received various accolades like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised by her aunt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and raised within New York New York. Bassett and her sister, who were about five years old, made the move from New York to St. Petersburg to live with the mother of their divorced father. When she was in high school Bassett was a spectator of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she would like to be an actor. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980) which was in African American study, and an honorary doctorate (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. In African-American Studies, 1981. Master of Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama School. Angela Bassett is currently working in one of the lead characters as Ramonda in the action film i.e. Black Panther Wakanda forever 2022.
